Nice Swims at Sr. Champs
Solid Swims at Senior Champs
6 BSC Swimmers swam at Stevenson High School at the Illinois. The Team highlight was a 9thPlace Finish by the BSC Girls 4x100Medley Relay—Anne Jacobsen, Mekenna Scheitlin, Olivia Hoffman, and Kelsey Holmes. Mekenna Scheitlin placed 12thin the 100Breast and 17thin the 50Free. Anne Jacobsen placed 16thin the 50Free and 11thin the 100Back. Emma Barnett had a Best Time 200IM in her sole event of the meet. Kelsey Holmes swam to a New Senior Champ time in the 100Back and a Best Time anchoring the Medley Relay. Both Swims show great promise for the Regional and Age Group Meets!!
Here are a couple things I think we did well:
-
Improvement on Starts and Turns—BSC Swimmers did a much better job of accelerating into and out of walls as well as executing properly on starts and breakouts.
-
Some of the Best Swims of the Season—Although the best time percentage was not what we have come to expect at BSC. Most of the swims were best times for this summer. Continuous improvement over the course of the season is always a good sign that good things are around the corner.
Here are a couple things I think we need to work on:
-
Racing—As good as it was to see BSC swimmers having great starts and breakouts, BSC swimmers needed to work a bit harder at staying in front, and racing hard to the finish.
-
Mental Toughness—BSC Swimmers need to be mentally consistent with what they have learned in practice and meets leading up to their Championship Meet. We were mentally lethargic at the meet. Champs is an opportunity to step up and showcase team pride and showcase skills learned during the season. To see lackluster efforts was really disappointing.
Those BSC Teammates with Champs coming up in the next few weeks. GET EXCITED!! SHOW THAT YOU ARE EXCITED!! LET OTHERS BE EXCITED WITH YOU!! You all have done an amazing job this summer. Now it is time to show IL what we can do together!!
