BHS Girls Win Season Opener vs. Hersey

The BHS Fillies opened their 2011 high school season with a conference win versus Hersey at home 120-66. Barrington won 9 of 11 events including two of the three relay events. The Fillies opened up with a win in the 4x50Medley Relay with the team of Erika Elliot, Mekenna Scheitlin, Olivia Hoffman, and Kelly Mekert in 1:53.18. BHS followed up with and Second in the 200Free with Freshman Emma Barnett with a best time 1:59, Kael Ragnini and birthday girl Maddie Burrell right there. . The team's second  win came in the 200IM via Kayla Widdowson, teammate Olivia Hoffman was a very close second with a 4 second best time 2:16 followed by Catie Olson in 2:32.52.  Mekenna Scheitlin swam to the first of her two individual wins in the 50Free with a 24.94, freshman teammate Kelsey Holmes close behind with 26.18. In the 100Fly Scheitlin added her sescond win in 59.66 Olivia Hoffman was second with a best time of 1:00.06 and Sam Gavars in 107.00. Kelsey Homes was very close to her best time with a 56.66 in the 100Free and a thrid place finish behind teammate Danielle Elliot's 55.54. Fellow Fillies freshman Kael Ragnini won the 500free in 5:29.95, teammates Ellie Menso and  Gabby Claborn also had strong showings with 5:46.88 and 6:09.78. BHS came away with a very close second place in the 4x50 Free relay with Kelsey Holmes, Kael Ragnini, Justine Kaszyniski, and Danielle Elliott swimming in the relay. In the 100Back Erika Elliott got the win for the Fillies in a 59.92 right at the IHSA State qualifying time Freshman Emma Barnett garnered herself another second place with 1:02.95 Maddie Burrell at 1:05.32 and Sam Gavars at 1:07.21. Kayla Widdowson earned another first place in the 100Breast with a 1:12.64, freshman Catie Olson chipped in with a fine time of 1:17.75. The Fillies capped their night with a win in the 4x100Free Relay of Scheitlin, Kaszyniski, Gabby Claborn, and Erika Elliott in 3:46.92.  Barrington will travel to Prospect for their next meet on Tuesday..

The BHS JV won 123-62 and the Frosh/Soph team posted a 133-50 victory all the squads are 1-0. BSC Teammates at the Frosh-Soph level were Mackenzie Stagnito, Taylor Johnson, Emily Vargo, Evelyn Ciskowski, and Becca Jackopin,  All did a fine job destroying their best times!!
