BHS Fillies Notch 2 More Wins to Stay Perfect

With One week leading up to the Mid-Season Lake County Championship Meet the Fillies added victories vs. Hoffman Estates on Wednesday and St. Charles North on Saturday.  On Saturday at Home the Fillies won 9 of 12 events including all three relay events. the 200Medly Relay of Kelsey Holmes, Mekenna Scheitlin, Justine Kaszynski, and Kelly Meckert touched first in 1:56.09.  In the 200Free Danielle Elliott, and Emma Barnett touched first and second respectively with Kael Ragnini in 4th.  In the 200IM Kayla Widdowson claimed the top spot with a 2:19.37. Fellow Fillies Lisa Danhauer and Andrea Vega placed 4th and 5th seeing their first varsity action this season.  Mekenna Scheitlin and Kelsey Holmes doubled up in the 50Free with a 1-2 finish. Teammate Erin Emrath placed 4th.  The 100Fly saw another Fillie's tandem go 1-2 with Justine Kazsyinski touching first and Olivia Hoffman in second with Danhauer in 3rd. The 100Free was a hard fought battle with Popp of St. Charles taking the top spot just a bit ahead of Barrington's Danielle Elliot in 2nd. Teammates Kayla Widdowson and Erin Emrath came in 3rd and 5th.  The 500Free saw the Fillies return to their winning ways with Freshman Emma Barnett with a nice win in the 500 in 5:17.41, Justine Kazsynski 2nd, and fellow Freshman Kael Ragnini turned in a 3rd place performance.  The 200Free Relay of Mekenna Scheitlin, Kelly Meckert, Erin Emrath, and Danielle Elliott claimed the win in 1:44.85.  In the 100Back another of the Fillies Freshmen claimed first with a 1:02.27, Maddi Burrell and Samantha Gavars also touched 2-3 to complete the sweep.  The 100Breast saw one of the best races of the day with Sophomore Mekenna Scheitlin racing St. Charles' Meagan Popp down to the wire! Mekenna posted a solid 1:08.41 in second place with Olicia Hoffman and Catie Olson placing 3-4 giving the Fillies a 9-7 point advantage.  The Final Event th 4x100Free Relay saw the BHS Fillies' team of Kelsey Holmes, Emma Barnett, Justine Kazsynski, and Danielle Elliott come from behind in the final leg with a .05 second win over the visitors sealing the Varsity 124-62 Win and extending their record to 5-0.

The Junior Varsity also garnered an impressive 132-53 win to raise their record to 4-1 this season.

The Fillies will host Schaunburg this Thursday and then travel to Lake Forest for the Lake County Meet on Saturday.--Keep Swimming Fast BHS!!
