BHS Lady Fillies Win Sectional Championship!

Congrats to BHS Teammates Headed To State

BSC Girls High School Swimmers did an awesome job this past weekend at the IHSA Sectional Championship Meet at Barrington High School. The Lady Fillies brought home the Championship! The 200Medley Relay of Kelsey Holmes, Mekenna Scheitlin, Oliva Hoffman, and Erika Elliot won the event in a State Qualifying Time. In the 200Free Danielle Elliott qualified for the state meet with teammate Justine Kaszynski in 5^th just off the state time. In the 200IM the Fillies scored a 4^th and 5^th with Kayla Widdowson and Olivia Hoffman respectively. The 50Free saw a Fillie 1-2 victory with Erika Elliott and Mekanna Scheitlin both ladies were under the IHSA state standard. The 100Fly saw two more BHS qualifiers with Justine Kaszynski and Olivia Hoffman both swimming to personal best times and state qualifying times. Erika Elliot posted a win in the 100Free with her third qualifying effort of the day, with freshman Kelsey Holmes coming in 10^th. Danielle Elliott swam to a bronze medal in the 500Free while qualifying for the state championship with teammate Emma Barnett coming in 4^th with a personal best time. The 200Free Relay saw another victory and another qualifying time with Mekenna Scheitlin, Kelsey Holmes, Danielle Elliott, and Erika Elliott. The 100Back featured Emma Barnett and Samantha Gavars scoring 10^th and 12^th place resectively. The 100Breast saw another qualifer in Mekenna Scheitlin with her 4^th place finish, teammate Kayla Widdowson finished in 9^th. In the Final Event of the day the Filliy quartet of Kelsey Holmes, Kayla Widdowson, Justine Kaszynski, and Danielle Elliott finished 5^th just a second off the state standard. The IHSA State Finals will be held this Friday and Saturday at New Trier High School—follow the BHS Fillies at IHSA.org. Great Job Ladies!
