Here are a couple things the team did well:
-
Starts---BSC did a good job of being first at the 15meter mark. A good start helps get momentum rolling for the race.
-
Acceleration into the Finish—BSC Teammates really did a good job the last 15 meters of every race. There were some races that were close until the last 15meters when BSC Teammates brought up their kick, increased their stroke rate and got their hand on the wall first.
Here are a couple of things the team needs to work on:
-
Maintaining Stroke effeceincy—This item refers to both technique and tactics. BSC teammates need to concentrate on having the technique coaches are asking for in practice when they race. Also we need to do a better job of holding on to stroke changes at the proper effort level when we get tired.
-
Doing the little things well—BSC Teammates did a great job racing to the wall, but there were too many times where we took a breath inside 5 meters, or did not accelerate into a turn properly. Another item is swimming hard through the middle of a swim. BSC swimmers were really good the first and last quarter of our races, but the middle ½ of the swim was very soft. Like an Oreo cookie—crisp on the ends and marsh mellow in the middle. We need to focus on splitting properly in practice to counter this trend.
