Here are some things we did well:

1.  Racing--I love watching well executed race plans. There were quite a few races where BSC swimmers followed their race plan and won thier heat or their event going away from the other competitors. There were also plenty of races where BSC swimmers may not have gone a best time, but raced far better than their counterparts from other teams. The women's 100Free would be a great example.

Here are some things we need to work on:

1.  Be Enthusiastic--If You are excited about being at a meet and going fast ---- you probably will!! Whether it is your favorite event or your least favorite event always use the same mental approach. Plan to be successful, Take EVERY opportunity to race hard and make yourself better!

2.  Be There---This applies to the mental presence at a meet as well as a physical presence at practice. More than just being enthusiastic be alert know where you are what your are doing, and why you are doing it.  Understand what your purpose is at each meet and each race--be enganged in your own improvment! Getting Better starts and ends with attendance you have to be there to get better. This applies to both technique and training. Of the swimmers at the meet with 100% Best Times their average attendnace as a group is just shy of 82%. Everyone else was as low as 34% to around 66%. With the exception of senior swimmers--who often need a rest phase to perform in addition to 90% attendance---Swimmers need to have at least 80% to have an opportunity to improve. A missed training opportunity is just that a missed opportunity to improve--there is no substitute for being at a team practice and working hard to get better.

3.  Listen to your Coaches---This applies to swimmers who need to remember to check in with their coaches before and after every race.  Swimmer recieve instructions on both technique and tactices that the coaching staff expect to be executed. The level of execution gives coaches a great evaluative tool as to where BSC Teammates are in their Technique Development, Training Progression, and Tactical Understanding of their swimming. We work on things as a group and as individuals in practice, meets are the time to see where we are and make modifications based on what happens. When kids don't talk to coaches or follow parental instructions instructions instead there is no way to evaluate and adjust the developmental progression for that training cycle.
