BSC Shines at the Illinois Open
57 BSC Teammates traveled to Champaign over the weekend to compete in the Illinois Open hosted by the CCYMCA Heat. Barrington Swim Club did very well with the Women's Team coming in 3rd Overall and the Men's Team coming in Second. The Combined Team was 3rd! The team swam to 70% Best Times with over 60 New ISI Championship Qualifying Times. BSC Swimmers swam tough against some pretty good competition with some unusually long sessions. What an encouraging set up for the second half of the season. Keep working Hard To Be Your Best At the End!!

Here are a few things we did well as a Team:
1. Starts and Breakouts---BSC Swimmers were awesome the first 25 meteres of almost every race. Explosive off the starts with great underwater acceleration! Keep Up the Good Work!
2. Back Half Racing---This continues to be one of BSC's new found strengths. There were countless races where Teammates were not leading the first half of the race, but showed great toughness and training to get their hand on the wall first at the end.
3. Technical Improvement--It was great to see so many teammates actually making technical corrections and improvements that we have been stressing in practice all summer long! Keep up the improvement!
Here are a few things to work on:
1. Aggressiveness---BSC swimmers needed to be a little more aggressive on the first 50 on their swims. Great Rallies on the back half are great, but just a little more attention to the first 50 will yield even better results.
2. Acceleration into turns--As a team we were not focused on accelerating into our turns. It is so important to kick harder and increase your stroke rate into a turn. This allows you to carry more momentum through the turn. Work on this in practice into every wall!!
