Here are a few things we did really Well:

1.  Racing the Back Half--BSC continues to do a great job finishing races!! This was dynamically demonstrated in the 200s and longer events with Teammates coming from behind as well as distancing themselves from the field. As a Coach that is super fun to watch becuase it demonstrates both fitness and toughness. Keep it Up!

2.  Racing from anywhere in the field--The diverse ability to race from ahead or behind in a race is key to long term success in the sport of swimming. The ability to win from any lane is important. BSC Teammates began to demonstrate this trait this weekend and it was great to see!

Here are a few things we need to work on for the next Meet

1.  Advance Goalsetting- Before the meet there were too many teammates that didn't know what they were swimming or what time they wanted to achieve at the meet. To be successful at the Championship levels everyone needs to know their events and goal times. The second step in the process is the ability to train your goal time. Know how fast you have to go every set evey day and how that will help you reach your goal.

2.  We are Training for March--This is the most important part of our short course season. Practices are scheduled to focus performance at the Championship level in late February and early March. Every meet leading up to that time is a training meet where teammates are being tested and evaluated. The Friday AM before the meet and Monday AM practice after the meet are key times to prepare to swim prelims and finals as well as stretchout and warm-down from the meet. Rule #1 of Development "Be There All The Time". If tehre is a practice scheduled for your group you are expected to be there until your coach tells you otherwise.

3.  Radical Improvement Requires Radical Practice: Some BSC teammates were disappointed with their results, but when compared to how often and how hard they have worked there was no basis to expect improvement. If you want to improve in anything swimming, school, underwater basket weaving, you need to have dedicated and focused practice time where you are putting Radical Effort into your Radical improvement. My encouragement---Don't be Normal--Be Radical!!

Our next Meets will be the St. Charles 8 and Under Meet, Elmhurst Meet and the Nike Prelim/Final Meet. Lets work super hard the next few weeks to make those meets Special!!
