BSC Rallies to Finish 10th at Sectionals!
I love the song by Semi-sonic "Closing Time", there is a line is the song "Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end." At the Central Zone Sectionals 6 BSC Teammates ended the Fall/Winter session and at the same time Began the Spring /Summer Long Course session. The ladies did an amazing job of showing mental toughness, flexibility, and the type of sportsmanship we all expect at BSC.
On Thursday Maggie Emary and Emma Barnett led the squad with 2 team records. Maggie in the 13-14 800m Free broke the Record and placed 6th Overall. In the same event Emma Barnett swam to a 12th place. Later in the day Emma swam a New Team Record in the 200Back placing 20th. Kirsten Jacobsen swam to a 20th Place in the 50Free. Teammate Mekenna Scheitlin scored in the finals with a 12th Place in the same event.
On Friday Kirsten Jacobsen swam to a New Record in the 200m Free placing 10th. Maggie Emary swam in finals placing 30th. The 400Free Relay of Mekenna Scheitlin, Maggie Emary, Emma Barnett, and Kirsten Jacobsen capped off the day by Placing 10th and Setting a New team Record

Maggie Emary swam to a win in the Bonus Final placing 17th. Emma Barnett showed a 3 second improvement from her Prelim time with a 28th Place finish.
On Sunday the BSC women came out and had their best day of the meet! in the 200IM Mekenna Scheitlin won the Bonus final shaving 5 seconds off her Prelim Time. In the 1500 Free BSC Placed more swimmers in the Top 16 than any other Team at the Meet with all 4 ladies scoring. Kirsten Jacobsen set a New Team Record placing 3rd. Maggie Emary Placed 6th, Emma Barnett Placed 8th, and Becca Elrod placed 12th--all Best Times! In the 100Free Kirsten Jacobsen Lowered the Team Record placing 6th. In the Final Event, the 400Medley Relay Barrington Swim Club had one of the Best Swims of the Meet for the team. Val Tarazi, Becca Elrod, Mekenna Scheitlin, and Kirsten Jacobsen dropped 7 seconds off their seed time to Place 7th. Just missing the team record by two tenths of a second. Barrington Swimmers had only scored 106.5 points the first three days of the meet. On Sunday BSC scored 124 Points! Propeling them to a 10th Place Finish as a women's Team!
What a Great Way to Close out one season and Begin Another with 8 New Team Records and a 10th Place Finish Overall. The team's spirits were really high. As a Coach I am super proud of all of them!
Everyone enjoy your week away from the pool, rest, and relax....come to practice April 1st READY TO CONTINUE A GREAT BEGINNING TO OUR LONG COURSE SEASON!
