BSC Pentathlon a Great Success

109 Teammates swam at the BSC Intrasquad Pentathlon. There were some really great races and nice best times. The meet provided an opportunity for new teammates learn about how USA Swimming Meets work and experienced teammates a chance to evaluate where they are and what they need to work on.

Here are Some Things We Did Well

1. Willingness to Step up and Test Ourselves—It was really awesome to see 110 Teammates get up on the blocks and test themselves and each other. There were some great individual perofmances and some really fun head to head races between Teammates. One of the marks of a great team is the ability of Teammates to make each other better and still be great friends. I saw a lot of that! That is one of the great strengths here at BSC! Keep It Up!!

Here are Some Things We Need to Work On

Rookies

  1. Pay Attention to the Little things—Keep listening to your coaches to master your technique. Every week we go through every stroke. Every week proper turns are stressed. Make sure you are paying close attention to instruction and implementing them every lap of every practice. If you make the commitment to improve you will be amazed how much faster you will get.

Veterans

  1. Get Back To Basics—Sometimes when you have a great measure of success, like 4 Top 10 Finishes in the past 5 seasons, it is easy to become too comfortable and forget all the hard work that got you there. BSC's New Success was built on Attendance, Attitude, Effort, and Performance. Those four tenants have slipped a bit. In order to continue BSC's success at the State and National Level we need to renew our common commitment to that Preparation for Success. That Preparation is:

    A. Attendance—Coming to Practice All The Time

    B. Attitude—Don't Just Be at Practice in Body, Be There in Spirit As Well

    C. Effort—Do your absolute Best Every Day, Every Practice

    D. Preformance—The Satisfaction of a Realized Dream Lies not Solely in its' Achievement, but in What it Took to Get There.

Our next meet is the Monster Mash October 26-27. Lets all work hard on improving and making it show in and out of the Pool.
