RECOVERY NUTRITION DURING HARD TRAINING By Dan McCarthy//National Team High Performance Consultant During hard training cycles, like Christmas training, it is imperative for athletes not only to eat promptly (within a half-hour) following a hard training session, but eat the right amount of carbohydrates and protein as well. A sound recovery plan will be based on an athlete’s body weight. Barrington Swim Club attended two meets over the weekend, Elmhurst Meet and Nike Challenge meet. BSC had 70 athletes competing which was 55 MORE THAN LAST YEAR!! Both squads did a solid job showing some decent improvement to close out the first half of the short course season. The TEAM swam to 65% Best Times, with 38 New Championship Cuts and 4 New Team Records. Score was kept at the Nike Challenge BSC placed 8 places higher than last year with a 7th place finish. 116 BSC Teammates competed at the 32nd annual Mustang Classic hosted by Barrington Swim Club. BSC Claimed the overall meet title ahead of Wheaton Swim Club and Blue Devil Swim Club in a great team competiton throughout the meet. Congrats to the 2011 BHS Filly Girl's Swim Team The team posted an unbeaten dual meet record, a conference championship as well as a Sectional Title. At the IHSA State Championships this past weekend. Two Relays as well as five individuals raced for a State Championship. Barrington placed 32nd in the State out of over 70 schools at the meet.
