The BHS Fillies opened their 2011 high school season with a conference win versus Hersey at home 120-66. Barrington won 9 of 11 events including two of the three relay events. The Fillies opened up with a win in the 4x50Medley Relay with the team of Erika Elliot, Mekenna Scheitlin, Olivia Hoffman, and Kelly Mekert in 1:53.18. Barrington Masters Swimmer Conquers the Channel!! After over a year of preparation Barrington Masters' Swimmer Doug McConnell finally got his opportunity to face the Mt. Everest of the swimming world, swimming the English Channel. McConnell wanted to finish in less than 15 hrs, and actually finished in 14 hrs and 15 minutes... wow!  What an amazing accomplishment.  One of only 48 people over 50 to ever cross. Congratulations Doug!! BSC raised funds for Mr. McConnell's charity through our Change for the Channel this summer.  

INTENSITY When you think of the truly great athletes like Michael Jordan or Lance Armstrong, how would you characterize them if you could use only one word? BSC Swimmers continued their amazing journey of progress this summer last weekend by traveling to the Central Zone Age Group Championships in Indianapolis.  The meet saw 2 Individual Event Wins, 2 New Team Records, and numerous Top 16 Finishes. BSC Teammates concluded a very successful Age Group Champs by finishing in 8th Place overall with 641.5 Points---that is an 800% increase from last summer!  This also marks the First Time in at Least 5 Years that BSC has been on the Top 10!! Day 2 at the Illinois Age Group Champs was another banner day for BSC Swimmers as both individuals and as a Team. Barrington Swimmers continue to swim very well with 90% Best Times several new Zone Times, Sectional Times, 2 New Team Record and 1 National Top 16 Time.
